FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. Counselling sessions are confidential, within the legal and ethical limits required of mental health professionals. Your privacy and safety are taken seriously. If you have any questions about confidentiality or how your information is handled, you’re always welcome to ask.
What if I'm not sure counselling is right for me?
That’s completely okay. Many people come to their first session feeling unsure. The initial session is simply a place to slow things down, talk through what’s been going on, and see whether it feels like a good fit for you. There’s no pressure to commit beyond that.
What if I don't know what to talk about?
You don’t need to come prepared or have the “right” words. It’s okay to begin with “I’m not sure where to start.” We’ll take things gently and at a pace that feels manageable for you.
What are Telehealth sessions?
Telehealth sessions allow you to access counselling support via secure video or phone. You can attend from your home or anywhere you feel comfortable and have privacy. Many people find this makes reaching out for support feel more accessible and less overwhelming.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed. You’re welcome to book directly without seeing a GP first.
Do you offer counselling for children?
Yes. Her Fearless Heart offers counselling for children aged 10 and over via telehealth, provided they are able to engage comfortably in an online session.
Do you offer couples counselling?
At this stage, Her Fearless Heart does not offer counselling for couples. Relationship concerns can still be explored within individual counselling sessions if that feels helpful.
Do you bulk bill?
Her Fearless Heart does not bulk bill. However, a limited number of low-cost 45-minute sessions may be available for individuals with a concession or healthcare card.
Can I claim Medicare or Private Health Insurance?
Currently, Medicare and private health insurance rebates are not available for counselling sessions at Her Fearless Heart.
How do payments work?
Counselling sessions are managed through the Halaxy platform. Payments are processed securely via direct deposit or PayPal, depending on your preference. For reflective supervision sessions, payment can be made via direct deposit following your session. Please note that payment must be finalised before your next session can take place.
Do you accept referrals from third-party organisations (NDIS, WorkCover, TAC, etc.)?
At this time, Her Fearless Heart is unable to accept referrals through third-party organisations such as TAC, WorkCover, VOCAT, DVA or ATAPS.
NDIS clients may be able to access sessions if they are self-managed or plan-managed, with funding under the Improved Daily Living category.
Please contact us to discuss making an arrangement for EAP referrals.
Do you provide court reports or formal letters?
Her Fearless Heart is not currently able to provide court reports or legal letters, however we can provide letters of support in some instances as well as certificates of attendance.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule your session, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. This allows the appointment to be offered to someone else. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice, without an adequate reason, may incur a cancellation fee.
What if I’m in crisis or need urgent support?
Her Fearless Heart is not a crisis service. If you’re feeling unsafe or need immediate support, please contact 000 or Lifeline on 13 11 14.
How does The Grey fit alongside counselling?
The Grey is designed to support reflection and self-understanding between sessions. It doesn’t replace counselling, but can be a helpful companion offering space to write, notice patterns, and gently support your wellbeing alongside professional care.
