Coming home to the heart of Her Fearless Heart

Her Fearless Heart began quietly in 2008 as my personal blog. A place where I wrote honestly about my life, my mental health, and the things I was trying to understand as I moved through them. There was no plan for what it would become. It was simply a space to reflect, to make sense of my own experience, and to put words to feelings that often felt too big or too tangled to hold alone.

Over time, something unexpected happened. Her Fearless Heart became a shared space. What started as one voice grew into many, and it slowly transformed into a kind of global journal. A place where people from all over the world shared their own stories. Stories of pain and survival. Stories of hope, determination, grief, healing, and everything in between. People wrote from the beginning of their story, the messy middle, and sometimes the other side. All of it was welcome.

As the years went on and the work grew, some of that essence was lost. Her Fearless Heart evolved into services, supports, and structures. All of these additions were important, all created with care, but in doing so, we drifted away from the simple, human exchange that made this space what it was. We became quieter. More formal. Less present with one another.

Now, with reflection, it’s clear: that shared humanity was never a side note. It was the heart.

Her Fearless Heart was never meant to be just another counselling service. It was, and still is, a community of people who get it because we’ve been there. A place to share, to witness, to hold one another in our experiences without needing to fix or explain.

So we’re returning to that.

We’re re-opening the space for stories. Real, honest reflections from people brave enough to share their voices. These stories will live here on the blog, as they once did, reminding us that none of us are alone, and that there is power in being seen.

If you have a story to tell , wherever you are in it, you’re welcome here. Alternatively, you’re welcome to sit quietly in the shadows and read the stories shared. My hope is that you find comfort, familiarity, or understanding in the words you encounter.
